Frequently asked questions
What stops fake reviews?
Two things. First, identity: every reviewer confirms a verified email at minimum, and can corroborate further with LinkedIn, Farcaster, or a work email that matches your named client. Reviews display their reviewer's verification level; stronger identities visibly carry more weight. Second, time: every seal carries a timestamp that cannot be altered or backdated. A history of reviews accumulated over months and years cannot be manufactured the week before a pitch. AI can fake a perfect profile today. It cannot fake one with a dated, verifiable past.
Does my client need an account?
No. You send one link. Your client writes or confirms the review on their phone, in about two minutes, with no signup. They verify their email and the review is sealed.
Who decides where a review appears?
Both of you, and neither alone. Your client sets a visibility ceiling when they seal the review, and can lower it anytime with one click. You decide which reviews appear on your page, within that ceiling. A review is only ever shown where you both allow it.
What if my client will vouch for me but doesn't want their name public?
They can choose to appear as a verified but unnamed reviewer, for example "Verified client · technology sector · client since 2024." Their identity is verified by Attestum and withheld at their request. The review still carries its full verification level.
Can they choose "available on request"?
Yes. The review appears on your page as a stub: verification level, relationship, and seal date visible, content shared only when you grant access. "References available upon request" becomes something you can actually prove.
Can a review be edited after it's sealed?
No. If even one character changes, the seal visibly breaks. Your client can withdraw a review entirely at any time, but no one, including Attestum, can quietly edit one.
What does "sealed on Base" mean?
Each review's cryptographic proof is recorded on Base, a public blockchain, through the Ethereum Attestation Service. The review text itself stays encrypted; only the proof is public. This means anyone can independently confirm a review existed at its stated time and hasn't been altered, without taking Attestum's word for it.
What does it cost?
Review pages are free during beta. Verifying a seal is free for anyone, always. A paid tier for freelancers is coming; nothing you seal now will be taken away.
I'm just starting out. Is this worth it with only one or two clients?
Especially then. Your review history gets more valuable every month it exists, and it can only be built forward, never backdated. Two verified reviews with real timestamps outweigh a wall of screenshots.
